About amen

amen is a South Carolina pastor and solo metal artist whose lyrics draw directly from Scripture, often word for word. He began preaching online before releasing music, then brought the same focus on biblical teaching into songs built for the body of Christ.

The project treats music as ministry rather than a separate career lane. Its catalog turns passages from across the Bible into modern metal while returning to themes of conviction, discipleship, obedience, accountability, and life inside a local church. The lowercase name keeps the emphasis away from the person making the music and on the word that closes a prayer: amen.

Pastor Gives Up Screaming for His Church

Someone in amen's church was uncomfortable with a pastor who screams. He doesn't think screaming is a sin. He gave it up anyway.

Caleb makes music as amen, and he is on staff full time at his church as a pastor. When the call came, he didn't ask who had raised it or what they said. "All I needed to know is that they were uncomfortable with the fact that I would be in the pulpit." He told us he would have rather never made another song again than lose the ability to pastor the people in that church. Then he tried yelling instead of screaming, and that got him called into a second meeting. What his pastor told him in that room is the rest of the episode.

This is Caleb's second time on the show. amen is a Christian metal project built on scripture, and he told us it turns one year old on October 8. He says he is too Christian for metal and too metal for Christians, and that both sides have a problem with what he does. He also says the conviction was never his: "I do not think the screaming's wrong. I was just trying to be obedient to the other person's conviction."

Caleb is screaming again. Watch the episode to find out what changed.

TikTok Preacher to Christian Metal

One day amen is going to stop making music. No announcement, no farewell record, no goodbye.

He is twenty-two, he is a pastor, and he told us he already knows how this ends. "One day this is gonna end and when it does, it's gonna happen suddenly and I'm just not gonna make another song again. I'm not gonna say bye." When we asked how we could pray for him, that was the answer: that he would be able to let it go when the time comes.

amen is a Christian metal project out of South Carolina, and every lyric is scripture, most of it word for word. He dropped out of nursing school on a full scholarship to make it and had to pay one of them back. Before that he was an electrician for two and a half years. He built over a hundred thousand followers on TikTok preaching, three videos past two million views each, before he ever released a song. His first album earned him a plaque for a million streams, and he said it had nearly tripled in the two months since. He has never played a live show and does not plan to.

The hard part of this conversation was hearing someone that young describe the years he stood in a pulpit he knew he did not belong in.
